A longread for RBMA Daily – and a sequel to a piece I wrote many years ago for Resident Advisor – about an excellent house music-focused record store, label, and party space operating out of a Catskills hamlet with a population of 277.

Roland: Moving Forward

A feature for Resident Advisor documenting my visit to the Japanese instrument manufacturer’s R&D facility in Hamamatsu, Japan – and telling the story of the drum machines and synthesizers they made in the ‘80s that flopped before going on to define entire genres of music.
